A Message from Andrea

Fostering Success Program started the academic year strong, welcoming new independent students at FSP First Connections. We had a lot of laughs over a game of giant jenga, connected new students with their FSP mentor, and shared about resources to ensure a solid start to the semester. Utilizing the Seven Life Domains approach through Fostering Success Michigan, we explained to new students how this model helps our mentors and coaches to identify student strengths and challenges, providing better support and resources.

A Note From Jose Gutierrez, FSP Student, Mentor and Facilitator

This transformative program has truly changed my life. As a first-generation student at Colorado State University, I struggled with impostor syndrome and felt unworthy of being there. However, the Fostering Success Program warmly welcomed me and provided the support I needed to feel just as welcome as any other student. Today, I have the privilege of serving as a mentor within this incredible organization, and I am dedicated to giving back to this amazing community. My mission is to ensure that every student who encounters this program has the safety net they deserve and a fair chance to complete their education no matter their circumstances. I strive to inspire and engage with this community, helping them achieve their academic goals. To all the amazing donors who have supported FSP, I want you to know that your donation truly makes a difference with our students. I am incredibly grateful for the support our organization received, and I hope you know that our students are very grateful for the change and support you have made. Thank you, without you, this wouldn’t have been possible.

Sincerely — Jose Gutierrez

Jose with fellow mentors Aubree and Alazeah, greeted new students at our Move-In Item Pickup. For a couple days the week before classes begin as new students are moving into their residence halls, FSP invites them to stop by for much needed items. They can pick up what they need, such as sheets, pillows, towels, fans, cleaning supplies, first aid kits, and more!

Move In Care Packages

Thank you for all the amazing move in items, and please see the below thank you card from our students. If you want to contribute move in items for future new FSP students, select “Yes!” for supporting “Care Packages” on the FSP Interest Form.
